Randy Gregory understands the prevailing view that repeated use of marijuana is the reason the Dallas Cowboys defensive end has been suspended for 30 of the past 32 games. Now that he's on the verge of playing after a year away from the NFL David Krejci Jersey , the former Nebraska standout wants people to know there are deeper issues of mental health that Gregory isn't comfortable discussing in detail publicly. "I was self-sabotaging," Gregory said Monday in his first group session with reporters at training camp in California. "Anybody that deals with what I have to deal with and what I've gone through and understands the process of what I've been through, I think can understand there's also a mental aspect to it along with emotional." Gregory was suspended three times in less than a year, the last a yearlong ban for multiple violations of the league's substance-abuse policy. He missed the 2017 season and waited an extra six months to apply for reinstatement to try to improve his chances. The detailed application included letters of recommendation from several teammates, most notably 2016 All-Pro linebacker Sean Lee, and won the approval of Commissioner Roger Goodell in time for Gregory to join the Cowboys at camp. Gregory's time away included stints in rehab and therapy, and the 25-year-old acknowledged that he had to learn to take those efforts more seriously. "It's not just somebody walking around carelessly doing what they want http://www.officialbluejackets.com/authentic-adidas-david-savard-jersey ," Gregory said. "There's obviously a mental aspect to it that plays a big part in it for me that I've had to try to figure out. The moment I took a more serious approach to that with my therapy and the more people around me understood what I was going through mentally, made it a lot easier for me to get right." The Cowboys drafted Gregory late in the second round in 2015. He was considered a first-round talent before testing positive for marijuana at the combine. Gregory made it through his first season without getting suspended, missing four games with an ankle injury but going without a sack in his 12 appearances. The first suspension was announced in the offseason, followed by a 10-game ban before the four-game suspension had expired. He played the final two games in 2016, finally getting his first sack in the finale when the Cowboys had already wrapped up the NFC East title. The third suspension hit before Dallas lost a divisional playoff game to Green Bay. "We try to keep our eyes wide open about what any issues a player might have coming in and we're optimistic if we put them in the right environment they can respond the right way," coach Jason Garrett said. "It will not be 100 percent successful. But we've had a lot of players who have grown a lot in our organization." The Cowboys brought Gregory along slowly at camp, first allowing him to participate in pre-practice walkthrough sessions. Individual drills in practice were next Alex DeBrincat Jersey , and finally some 11-on-11 work for the first time this week. Owner Jerry Jones, never afraid to gamble on draft picks and equally willing to stick with them, said he thinks Gregory can be ready for the opener at Carolina on Sept. 9. "We certainly have had players that have had challenges with dependence," Jones said. "Now the problem is reality sets in and you have numbers and roster spots. You get the old adage of, 'Well, he wouldn't be doing that for a down-the-line guy or he wouldn't be that tolerant of a down-the-line guy.' That's actually very true." Three years after vowing to Jones that he would do his best to overcome the issues that led to him slipping in the draft, Gregory is cautiously optimistic that can deliver with his second chance. "I think first and foremost they like me as not only a player but as a person http://www.officialkings.com/authentic-adidas-alex-iafallo-jersey ," Gregory said. "I've always tried to do the right thing. I know I always haven't. But I've tried. I think they realized I was a person in need and sticking by me throughout that tough part and even now has been real important for me to get back. And I think it's worked." The Cowboys and Gregory will find out soon enough. With Jaguars guard Andrew Norwell and, more recently, Cowboys guard Zack Martin cashing in, another established interior offensive lineman remains in line for a new deal of his own: Washington guard Brandon Scherff. As explained by Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post, Scherff is the next guard to get paid big money. The only question is when. Currently eligible for a second contract, Scherff will make $705,000 this year. His salary will spike to $12.5 million next year http://www.officialblackhawksproshop.com/authentic-adidas-artem-anisimov-jersey , the fifth-year option. Washington presumably could get Scherff under contract more cheaply by doing it now, and it will undoubtedly get more expensive the longer the team waits. At some point, they could find themselves back in another year-to-year franchise-tag dance, like the one that just ended with quarterback Kirk Cousins leaving as a free agent. It could make the most sense to pay him after 2018, but for a top-10 pick who has thrived through three seasons, it seems at least a little unfair to keep him south of seven figures for his fourth NFL season. IRVINE Youth Sebastian Aho Jersey , Calif. (AP) Ever since the Rams came home to Los Angeles two seasons ago, a big segment of their long-faithful local fan base has pleaded with them to dress better. The Rams have listened to their fans’ pleas, and now the NFL is allowing them to wear their classic blue-and-yellow uniforms five times at the Coliseum this season. The Rams will don the franchise’s traditional uniforms in their final five home games this season, chief operating officer Kevin Demoff announced Friday to a thrilled throng of Rams supporters at training camp. ”I’m excited for our fans, because their voice was heard in the NFL office,” Demoff said. ”We’re glad that we were able to deliver for them.” The Rams’ uniform choices have attracted uncommon scrutiny since mere days after the team announced its return to California in 2016. Most local fans fondly remember the Rams in their royal blue jerseys with yellow pants, which the Rams wore from 1973 until 1999. The St. Louis Rams won the Super Bowl in the white version of that uniform, but swapped out that color scheme the next season in favor of a navy-and-gold look. The Rams tweaked their look when they moved back to LA, and the Rams wore a hybrid look last season that resembled the blue-and-white look worn by the Los Angeles Rams from 1964-72, but with accents of the St. Louis gold. The Rams adopted the classic blue-and-yellow look as their throwback uniform when they moved home, and they’ve worn it in two home games apiece over their first two seasons in the Coliseum. Their fans wanted more, and they’re getting it. ”(The NFL) understood our fans’ requests about why we wanted to wear throwbacks more,” Demoff said. ”They saw the passion. We sent them all the letters, all the discussion from last year.” The Rams essentially were allowed to swap out their current navy-blue jerseys for their throwbacks for four games during the upcoming season. The team spent several games last season wearing what appeared to be mismatched navy jerseys and pants Brent Burns Jersey , and fans were fed up. They’ll also swap their current white-horned helmets for gold horns while wearing the throwbacks. The Rams’ headgear also is historic: they have the first NFL helmets ever to feature a logo, after halfback Fred Gehrke painted the horns onto the leather helmets in 1948. After the NFL agreed to the switch this week, the Rams will wear the royal blue jerseys with yellow ram horns around the shoulders in five of their seven home games. Their eighth ”home” game is in Mexico City, where the Rams will wear their yellow ”Color Rush” alternate uniforms. The Rams will wear their current white home jerseys in their two preseason home games and their first two regular-season games at the Coliseum in September. That decision will force their opponents to wear colored jerseys in the hottest temperatures of the season. The team also will wear the blue-and-yellow gear with roughly the same frequency in 2019, Demoff said. But this franchise’s uniform saga is far from over. The Rams have long planned to unveil new uniforms when they move into their palatial new stadium in Inglewood for the 2020 season. Demoff indicated the new look is likely to be ”a blend” of the classic and the new. ”Certainly we know where the fans’ passion on colors and uniforms are,” Demoff said. ”But we want to make sure we walk into the world’s newest and most modern stadium with a uniform design that is reflective of our history, but also reflects the building that we’ve just constructed.” — Jrue Holiday’s postseason production is providing Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis with a more comfortable margin for error – and has left Portland with precious little. Holiday’s 54 points, 16 assists and slew of defensive successes in the first two games are big reasons why the sixth-seeded Pelicans hold a surprising 2-0 series lead over the third-seeded Trail Blazers as they prepare for Game 3 Thursday night in New Orleans. ”Playoff Jrue, I guess,” Davis quipped after Holiday scored 33 – including a late, deep 3-pointer – in the Pelicans’ Game 2 triumph in Portland on Tuesday night. ”He’s in a different mode.” Philadelphia visits Miami in one of two other Game 3s on Thursday night, while the Spurs’ return to San Antonio after a pair of double-digit losses at defending champion Golden State. Pelicans general manager Dell Demps bet big on Holiday on the first day of free agency last summer, giving the 27-year-old guard a five-year contract worth about $126 million. But if the postseason is where players really earn their money, then the Pelicans’ Holiday spending could very well be worth it. Holiday helped preserve New Orleans’ Game 1 victory with a leaping steal in transition during the final minutes Scottie Upshall Jersey , followed by a block in the final seconds. Those plays were prime examples of why Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry has asserted Holiday is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. ”We ask him to guard the best perimeter player and we ask him to do it while we’re also wanting him to get 20 points,” Gentry said, noting that Holiday has had to take turns guarding both members of Portland’s prolific starting backcourt, guards Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum. ”He can get to the basket against just about anybody that there is. His outside shot has really improved,” Gentry added. ”He’s very confident in what he’s doing and the way he’s playing.” — TRAIL BLAZERS AT PELICANS New Orleans leads 2-0. Game 3, 9 P.M., NBA TV. NEED TO KNOW: The Pelicans were no better at home (24-17) during the regular season than on the road (24-17), which gives Portland hope. ”We’ve won on their floor before and we feel like we’re capable of doing the same thing they did to us,” Portland’s Lillard said. However, the atmosphere could be different for New Orleans’ first home playoff game since 2015. KEEP AN EYE ON: Pelicans guard Rajon Rondo , who had 17 assists in Game 1 and was one assist shy of a triple-double in Game 2. INJURY UPDATE: Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic was limited to only 15 minutes in Game 2 because of a left leg contusion, while forward Evan Turner is questionable with a right toe contusion. Pelicans forward Nikola Mirotic twisted his right ankle late in Game 2. He has not been scratched, but his effectiveness remains to be seen. PRESSURE IS ON: Portland guards Lillard and McCollum, who have been inconsistent in the series and will be desperate to prevent the Blazers from falling into a 0-3 hole. ”We don’t want to be in this position … but it should be fun and we should accept that challenge Womens Anze Kopitar Jersey ,” Lillard said. ”If not, it could be a quick series.” — 76ERS AT HEAT Series tied 1-1. Game 3, 7 p.m., TNT. NEED TO KNOW: The 76ers say All-Star center Joel Embiid, who has missed 10 games with a broken orbital bone, is doubtful. The Heat ended Philadelphia’s franchise-record 17-game winning streak Monday, winning with physical defense. To further ratchet up tension, some 76ers were miffed by Miami’s Goran Dragic’s late layup to pad the Heat’s 113-103 victory. KEEP AN EYE ON: The 76ers’ shooting and the Heat’s Dwyane Wade. Philadelphia shot 18 for 28 from 3-point range in Game 1, but just 7 for 36 in Game 2. Wade had 28 points in 26 minutes in Game 2 , but at age 36, there’s no guarantee he’ll consistently summon that sort of performance. ”I’m not worried about encores,” Wade said. ”Right now it’s just about being a leader and giving this team what they need on different nights.” INJURY UPDATE: Embiid practiced Tuesday and Wednesday, but regaining his rhythm on offense could take longer, coach Brett Brown said. After Monday’s loss Mark Stone Jersey , Embiid lobbied to get back in the lineup, writing on Instagram that he was ”sick and tired of being babied.” The return of the 76ers’ leading scorer and rebounder would mark a renewal of his rivalry with Miami’s Hassan Whiteside. They’ve feuded on social media this season. PRESSURE IS ON: Heat president Pat Riley always says a playoff series doesn’t really begin until the road team wins a game. As of Monday, this series has begun, with Miami putting the heat on the Sixers, who are in the postseason for the first time since 2012. — WARRIORS AT SPURS Golden State leads 2-0. Game 3, 9:30 p.m., TNT. NEED TO KNOW: San Antonio is 30-8 at home this season, but coach Gregg Popovich stressed playing on the road isn’t why the Spurs dropped the first two games. San Antonio is shooting 26 percent on 3-pointers in the series after averaging 35 percent during the regular season. San Antonio was 4 for 28 on 3s in Game 2. ”We know it’s just like hitting in baseball – the ability to make shots,” Popovich said. ”I’m more concerned about the nuts and bolts of the game and the attitude and the fiber and the grunt and all that sort of thing.” KEEP AN EYE ON: The Warriors’ Klay Thompson. Word in Atlanta recently was that the Falcons are focused on contract extensions for players other than Julio Jones http://www.officialsenators.com/authentic-adidas-mike-hoffman-jersey , but those extensions aren’t all that’s been on the team’s mind. They were also thinking about extending their relationship with General Manager Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Dan Quinn and they got those deals done. The Falcons announced that both men are now signed through the 2022 season. “The partnership between Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff has proven to be as successful as we envisioned back in 2015,” Falcons owner Arthur Blank said in a statement. “I believe continuity in leadership is vital to achieving the highest levels of success in any organization and Andrew Shaw Jersey , with these extensions, we ensure these two leaders will be at the helm of our franchise for years to come. Their shared vision and long view plan has already delivered on a variety of levels and has positioned our team for success into the future. My expectations for our team to represent our city and fans well on and off the field remain very high and so does my confidence in Dan and Thomas to make that happen.” Dimitroff has been in Atlanta since 2008 and has put together teams that have made the playoffs in six of the last 10 seasons. Quinn was hired in February 2015 Danton Heinen Jersey Kids , guided the team to the Super Bowl in his second season and made it back to the playoffs last year. Rookie defensive end Hercules Mata'afa tore his ACL in a Vikings OTA practice earlier this month and the team made a move to fill his roster spot on Wednesday. The Vikings announced that they have signed linebacker Mike Needham. Mata’afa has been waived with an injury designation and will revert to injured reserve or receive an injury settlement if he goes unclaimed. Needham signed with the Cardinals after going undrafted out of Southern Utah, but was waived after their rookie minicamp. Needham was named a first-team All-Big Sky player after three of his collegiate seasons and posted 100 tackles and seven tackles for loss in his final college campaign. Needham will get his first on-field work with the Vikings when training camp opens in late July. New York Giants Customized Jerseys

New Orleans Saints receiver Travin Dural and center Cameron Tom each have been injured at Saints training camp. Both went down with apparent upper body injuries during practice on Sunday. Dural is a second-year pro out of LSU who spent his rookie year on the practice squad. Tom Vladimir Sobotka Jersey , who is from Baton Rouge and played in college for Southern Miss, is entering his third NFL season. Both players were able to walk with trainers off the practice field. Also walking off the field shortly before practice ended was starting left tackle Terron Armstead, but it was not clear if he was injured or struggling with hot conditions. Saints coach Sean Payton did not have updates on any of those players when he spoke immediately after practice. Goaltender Antti Niemi was seeking stability more than money when he agreed to a one-year, $950 Patrick Roy Jersey ,000 contract with the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. Who could blame the 34-year-old, who was eligible for free agency on July 1, after a whirlwind 2017-18 season? Niemi was bought out by the Dallas Stars last summer, signed with Pittsburgh Ryan Getzlaf Jersey , was claimed on waivers by Florida and then claimed again by Montreal. ”The way I felt when I was playing in Montreal, I was comfortable there,” Niemi said on a conference call. ”I didn’t need to change that. ”It wasn’t about getting the most money.” Niemi was 0-3-0 with a 7.49 goals-against average when Pittsburgh placed him on waivers on Oct. 24, and he was 0-1-1 with a 5.11 GAA – allowing five goals on 39 shots in two appearances – when he was put on waivers again by the Panthers on Nov. 14. But the Finnish veteran settled down nicely when claimed that day by Montreal Filip Forsberg Jersey , where he was reunited with goalie coach Stephane Waite. The two had worked together when Niemi backstopped the Chicago Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup in 2010. With the Canadiens, Niemi went 7-5-4 with a 2.46 GAA and a .929 save percentage. The club now has two goalies on one-way contracts vying for the job as backup to Carey Price next season – Niemi and prospect Charlie Lindgren, who signed a three-year extension on Feb. 13. It could make for a fierce battle in training camp, but at least whichever gets sent to AHL Laval will earn his full NHL salary. Niemi was just glad that his stint in Montreal showed he can still play top-level hockey. He said what prompted him to sign was ”how last season went and how I was able to bounce back.” — Denver Broncos Jerseys

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Bengals put quarterback Matt Barkley on injured reserve J.T. Miller Jersey , leaving Jeff Driskel as the backup to Andy Dalton heading into the season. Barkley hurt his left knee during the Bengals’ preseason finale Thursday night against Indianapolis. Kemoko Turay hit Barkley in the legs after he threw a pass, drawing a roughing-the-passer penalty. Barkley left to get the knee examined and didn’t return. Driskel is a third-year player who broke the thumb on his passing had in the final preseason game last year and sat out the season. He has never appeared in an NFL game. The Bengals also waived seventh-round pick Logan Woodside, who is eligible to be signed to the practice squad if he clears waivers on Sunday. The backup quarterback spot opened when AJ McCarron won his grievance and became a free agent after last season. The Bengals also released 10th-year defensive end Michael Johnson as part of their moves to get down to the 53-man limit, although it could be a temporary separation. Johnson becomes a free agent and could re-sign with Cincinnati for lesser money. Johnson has played all but one of his nine seasons with Cincinnati. He led the defensive line with 49 tackles and five sacks last season. The Bengals have infused young pass rushers into their rotation, including Carl Lawson and Jordan Willis. Coach Marvin Lewis described Johnson as “one of those pillars who has been here and given everything he can.” Lewis indicated the Bengals are open to his return as they shape the roster over the next few days. The move with Johnson came four days after the Bengals gave multiyear extensions to defensive end Carlos Dunlap and tackle Geno Atkins. The deals would pay more than $100 million combined if all terms are met. The Bengals allowed cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones to leave as a free agent in the offseason and released safety George Iloka, making the defense younger while saving money. Jones signed with Denver, and Iloka signed with Minnesota. H-back Ryan Hewitt and center T.J. Johnson also were released on Saturday. Hewitt was primarily a blocker — no carries and two catches last season — while Johnson became expendable when the Bengals drafted center Billy Price in the first round. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict went on the suspended list. He’ll miss the first four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances, the third year in a row that he’s suspended for the start of a season. Cincinnati opens the season on Sunday, Sept. 9 at Indianapolis Vladimir Sobotka Jersey , which expects to have Andrew Luck back at quarterback for the first time in more than 20 months. Luck has recovered from a shoulder injury that required surgery. The teams played in the regular season last year as well, with the Bengals winning 24-23 at Paul Brown Stadium on Dunlap’s interception return for a touchdown. Cleveland Browns linebacker Mychal Kendricks was released by the NFL team Wednesday night, hours after he was charged by federal prosecutors in Philadelphia with insider trading. Kendricks, who signed a one-year contract with the Browns in June after winning a Super Bowl title last season with the Eagles, allegedly used tips from an acquaintance to make about $1.2 million in illegal profits on four major trading deals, federal prosecutors said. The 27-year-old issued a statement earlier in the day admitting to his guilt and apologizing. He expressed regret and accepted “full responsibility” for his actions. However, the Browns decided after learning more about the case that they couldn’t go forward with Kendricks, who was going to start for the team. The Browns issued a statement after traveling to Detroit for Thursday night’s exhibition finale against the Lions. Kendricks did not make the trip. “Prior to signing Mychal, we were informed that there was a financial situation that he had been involved with in 2014 Miles Wood Jersey ,” Browns general manager John Dorsey said. “We were told Mychal had fully cooperated with investigators as a victim. From what was communicated at that time and based on the numerous questions we asked and further due diligence on our part, including checking with the league office, there was no information discovered that conveyed otherwise. “Recently, we were provided an update on the matter and the circumstances have changed. We are now dealing with a different set of facts and the additional information we’ve gathered has led us to the decision to release Mychal from our team.” Kendricks is facing possible prison time and further discipline from the NFL for violating its personal conduct policy. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league is reviewing the situation. Prosecutors allege his co-defendant, Damilare Sonoiki, was paid $10,000 in kickbacks in the scheme from 2014-2015, as well as perks like tickets to Eagles games and tagging along to a music video shoot or nightclub appearances, said U.S. Attorney William McSwain. Sonoiki had been working as a junior analyst at an unnamed investment bank in New York Sidney Crosby Jersey , prosecutors said. An IMDB profile lists him as a former writer on the popular TV series “Black-ish” as well as other movies and TV shows. In a statement released by his lawyer, Kendricks said he was sorry and takes full responsibility for his actions. “While I didn’t fully understand all of the details of the illegal trades, I knew it was wrong, and I wholeheartedly regret my actions,” he said in the statement. He also claimed he didn’t take any of the profits for himself but didn’t elaborate on where the money went. I am committed to repaying all of the funds gained illegally and accept the consequences of my actions.” Kendricks said he has been cooperating with authorities since the investigation began. McSwain along with representatives from the FBI and the Securities Exchange Commission— which filed a separate complaint — said Kendricks and Sonoiki used coded language in messages to try to hide their actions. McSwain said Sonoiki, who had limited trading powers at the time, would gave non-public information to Kendricks about acquisitions and other deals that would affect the price of securities for at least four different companies. Stephanie Avakian, co-director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement, said in one message when Sonoiki was asking for payment Braden Holtby Jersey , he told Kendricks that he liked Philadelphia bread used in cheesesteaks more than the bread in New York and asked that Kendricks bring him some. They also had a conversation pretending to be talking about changing the number on Kendricks’ jersey to 80, meant to signify the amount of money that should be deposited into a new trading account, she said. If the men are convicted, they could face up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $5.25 million as well as the seizure of any profits made from the insider trading. The Browns signed Kendricks as a free agent, bringing him in to upgrade their linebacker corps following an 0-16 season. Kendricks spent six years with the Eagles, who drafted him in the second round in 2012 after he played at California. The 5-foot-11, 240-pounder recorded a team-high eight tackles in last season’s NFC Championship against Minnesota and had four in Philadelphia’s Super Bowl win. Womens Los Angeles Rams Jerseys

Aaron Nola was the man Gabe Kapler wanted on the mound with Manny Machado at the plate and the tying run on third base. It was the right move. Nola stuck out nine in seven splendid innings Womens Brayden Point Jersey , Nick Williams hit a two-run homer and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-1 Wednesday to sweep a two-game interleague series. Nola (11-2) gave up one run and seven hits to win his fifth straight decision. He escaped a jam on his 103rd pitch when second baseman Cesar Hernandez made an outstanding, over-the-shoulder running catch on Machado’s shallow fly to right with two outs and runners on first and third. ”That’s awesome,” Nola said of the play. Kapler, who was heavily criticized for pulling Nola after 68 pitches in the season opener at Atlanta, visited the mound before letting his ace face Machado with a 2-1 lead. ”We knew he was the best option,” the first-year manager said. ”He always makes us feel confident.” Nola said he would’ve lobbied to stay in but didn’t have to say anything other than he felt fine. ”I want to go deep in the game,” he said. ”I want to get through that inning.” After five consecutive losing seasons, the Phillies are on the rise under Kapler. They pulled within 1 1/2 games of NL East-leading Atlanta and moved 10 games over .500 for the first time since finishing the 2011 season with a franchise-record 102 wins. ”It’s a nice milestone, one we can celebrate,” Kapler said. Making his second career start and third appearance Jake Allen Jersey , Orioles right-hander Yefry Ramirez (0-2) retired 13 of his first 14 batters before running into trouble in the fifth. Ramirez gave up two runs – one earned – and one hit in five innings. ”I was really proud of Yefry. You couldn’t ask for much better,” Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. Williams connected off David Hess in the seventh, sending a 409-foot shot into Philadelphia’s bullpen in right-center and extending the lead to 4-1. Victor Arano tossed two scoreless innings for his first career save. Ramirez didn’t allow a hit until Scott Kingery ripped a one-out double to left in the fifth. Williams, who walked, advanced to third on the hit. Jorge Alfaro followed with a grounder down the first-base line. Chris Davis moved a few steps to his left, took his eyes off the ball to look at Williams running halfway down the line, and the ball knuckled under his glove. Both runners scored on the error. Adam Jones lined an RBI double to left-center in the third, giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead. WELCOMING MANNY For the second straight day, fans clapped each time Machado was introduced. They also chanted ”We want Manny!” The three-time All-Star is set to become a free agent after the season and the Phillies are among the teams interested in acquiring him before the non-waiver trade deadline on July 31 or signing him in the offseason. Machado told reporters before the game he wants to play shortstop wherever he goes and he wouldn’t be surprised if Philadelphia aggressively pursued him. Phillies team president Andy MacPhail held the same position in Baltimore when the Orioles selected Machado No. 3 overall in the 2010 amateur draft. TRAINER’S ROOM Orioles: OF Joey Rickard was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to replace OF Colby Rasmus, who was placed on the restricted list before Tuesday night’s game. Phillies: RHP Jerad Eickhoff was scheduled to throw another live batting practice at Single-A Clearwater. Eickhoff has nerve issue in fingers and hasn’t pitched this season. UP NEXT Orioles: RHP Andrew Cashner (2-8 Jonathan Marchessault Jersey , 4.48 ERA) starts the opener of a four-game series at Minnesota on Thursday night. Cashner had a 3.21 ERA in five starts in June but didn’t earn a win. Phillies: Nick Pivetta (5-7, 4.66 ERA) takes the mound at Pittsburgh for the start of a three-game series on Friday. Pivetta earned the win in a scoreless inning of relief in Philadelphia’s 13-inning victory over Washington last Sunday. — ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) Matthew Stafford has a lot of numbers on his side, supporting the case the Detroit Lions drafted the right guy No. 1 overall in 2009 and were wise to give him a $135 million, five-year extension last summer. The strong-armed quarterback has completed 62 percent of his passes over his career for nearly 35,000 yards with 216 touchdowns. After injuries stunted the start of his career, he has started every game for seven straight seasons. But he hasn’t been able to change Detroit’s number of postseason victories since the franchise won the 1957 NFL title. Stafford has helped the Lions reach the playoffs three times, losing a wild-card game each time to leave them stuck on one postseason victory in six-plus decades. He knows that fact as well as anyone in the Motor City and yet he insisted that doesn’t get him down. ”There’s that mindset to go out there and work to prove people wrong and all that kind of stuff,” Stafford said Thursday after reporting for training camp. ”I just want to prove myself right.” Stafford will begin his 10th training camp on Friday morning, aiming to help Detroit avoid having just another mediocre season in Matt Patricia’s debut as an NFL head coach. The Lions won nine games the previous two years and coach Jim Caldwell lost his job after the team didn’t return to the playoffs last season. Stafford seems set up for success on offense Womens Jason Demers Jersey , working with a familiar offensive coordinator, Jim Bob Cooter, and throwing to returning veteran receivers Golden Tate and Marvin Jones. More importantly, the team has invested in improving the running game through free agency and the draft by bolstering the offensive line and backfield. The Lions have been among the NFL’s worst rushing teams in recent years, allowing opponents to sack Stafford an average of 43 times over the past four seasons. Despite the slew of sacks and even more hits, some of which have led to injuries, Stafford has been able to stay on the field. ”When I came into this league, I was 21 years old and I felt pretty good most days,” Stafford said. ”I’m 30 now. I don’t feel bad, but it’s different. A little bit of a new normal. ”I feel as good as I’ve felt coming into a camp in a long time. I feel really healthy and ready to go.” Stafford could potentially be entering the prime of his career. ”Quarterbacks in this league really develop pretty well at this sort of age range Brandon Manning Jersey ,” Cooter said. ”He’s getting better at different things. Every year we have different sort of points of emphasis. It could be throwing a certain pass, it could be pocket movement or it could be something with his feet. ”It’s a big camp for him too, right? There are a lot of different things around here. This is not the exact same system or exact same camp as last year’s camp.” Stafford has become savvy with the media over the years, answering questions without saying anything controversial. He doesn’t make bold predictions and rarely goes out on a limb on any topic. The husband and father of two young girls seems to strike a life-work balance, but his competitive streak can be heard at times when he hears doubters. ”Nobody’s got higher expectations than we do in our locker room,” Stafford said. ”We hold each other accountable to being a really good football team and doing things the right way all the time. All that outside stuff doesn’t get to us. We really don’t talk about it. Don’t hear it.” NOTES: The Lions signed DT Ricky Jean Francois and LB Darnell Sankey. They released LB Al-Rasheed Benton and OL Beau Nunn. … Detroit put LB Devon Kennard and DE Cornelius Washington on active-non football injury list. — Football Jerseys Wholesale From China

New York Jets outside linebacker Josh Martin has been ruled out Monday night at Detroit because of a concussion. The Jets also announced Saturday that wide receiver Jermaine Kearse (abdomen) and safety Marcus Maye (foot) are doubtful to play. With Martin sidelined http://www.officialpenguinsproshop.com/authentic-adidas-justin-schultz-jersey , New York promoted rookie outside linebacker Frankie Luvu from the practice squad and waived fullback Lawrence Thomas. Quincy Enunwa is likely to move into the starting lineup opposite Robby Anderson with Kearse, who led the team in receptions last season, sidelined. Coach Todd Bowles said either Doug Middleton or J.J. Wilcox would replace Maye if the second-year safety couldn't play. Luvu, an undrafted free agent out of Washington State Youth Dustin Byfuglien Jersey , was among the Jets' final cuts last weekend. Without Thomas, New York has no players listed at fullback. Tight end Eric Tomlinson will likely fill that role. Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia maintained his innocence and his new team said it supported him after a 1996 sexual assault allegation resurfaced Wednesday night. The Detroit News reported that Patricia and a friend of his were indicted 22 years ago by a Texas grand jury, on one count each of aggravated sexual assault for an alleged incident involving a woman on South Padre Island. The accuser did not testify and the case was dismissed 10 months later. ”As someone who was falsely accused of this very serious charge over 22 years ago, and never given the opportunity to defend myself and clear my name Milan Lucic Jersey Kids , I find it incredibly unfair, disappointing, and frustrating that this story would resurface now with the only purpose being to damage my character and reputation,” Patricia said in a statement issued by the Lions. ”I firmly maintain my innocence Ryan O'Reilly Jersey , as I have always done.” The Lions hired Patricia after last season to replace Jim Caldwell as coach. He had previously been an assistant with the New England Patriots. The Lions said a ”standard pre-employment background check” did not turn up the incident. But the team said it was standing by Patricia. ”We have spoken to Coach Patricia about this at length as well as the attorney who represented him at the time,” the Lions said in a statement attributed to owner Martha Firestone Ford, general manager Bob Quinn and president Rod Wood. ”Based upon everything we have learned, we believe and have accepted Coach Patricia’s explanation and we will continue to support him.” — http://www.officialusafootballs.com/green-bay-packers

Sidney Crosby passed Mario Lemieux in Pittsburgh’s record book and pushed the Philadelphia Flyers to the brink of elimination. Flyers fans booed the goal – and the ones that stuck around for the end belted a familiar refrain: “Fire Hakstol! Fire Hakstol!” Crosby scored his fifth goal of the series and became the Penguins‘ career postseason points leader in a 5-0 win over the Flyers on Wednesday night. The Penguins lead the first-round playoff series 3-1 as its shifts to Pittsburgh for Game 5 on Friday. Crosby and the Penguins followed a 7-0 Game 1 win and a 5-1 Game 3 victory with another dominant outing. Matt Murray stopped 26 shots for his second shutout of the series and the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins are a win away from playing in the second round for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons. Crosby scored in the second period for a 4-0 lead and topped the team owner and Hall of Famer in Lemieux for most playoff points with 173. ”A lot of his records aren’t going to be touched Tyler Bozak Jersey ,” Crosby said. ”The fact I can be close to him and around that one, I guess I’ve been fortunate to play in a number of playoff games helps a lot.” The Flyers were already on their second goalie by the time Crosby scored. The Penguins chased Brian Elliott early in the period after the maligned goalie allowed his 14th goal of the series. Michal Neuvirth relived Elliott and it didn’t matter. Neuvirth lost track of the puck behind the net and had his head turned to the right when Crosby found it and snapped it under the goalie’s left skate. ”I was in a good spot. The puck ended up right on my stick,” Crosby said. The Flyers were confused. The Penguins were composed. And it so it goes in Philly, the Flyers are a loss away from another empty season without the Stanley Cup. ”Somehow, we need to get our confidence back and go from there,” team captain Claude Giroux said. Disgruntled Flyers fans chanted from the balcony to the concourse for the Flyers to fire third-year coach Dave Hakstol. Both teams played without key cogs in their lineup: Sean Couturier (who had career highs with 31 goals and 76 points) was injured Tuesday at practice in a vicious collision with teammate Radko Gudas; the Pens played without top-line forward Patric Hornqvist because of an undisclosed injury. Giroux, who scored 102 points during the season Nico Hischier Jersey , has not scored a posteason goal since 2014. ”One game away for the season to be over,” Giroux said. ”You can expect this team to have some fight the next game.” The Flyers pulled out all their good-luck charms. The national champion Villanova Wildcats were in the house and star guard Phil Booth screamed ”Are you ready for some hockey?” Flyers fans heard the usual stirring rendition of ”God Bless America,” live by Lauren Hart and on video by the late Kate Smith. The song has been a rallying anthem for the Flyers since Smith began singing it in the mid 1970s. Hart started the song, then looked up to the big screen and passed it off to Smith. They finished in a split-screen duet. Once the pageantry settled down, the Penguins poured it on. Crosby’s on-point pass on the power play led to Evgeni Malkin’s third goal of the playoff just 4:33 into the game. Phil Kessel scored his first of the postseason midway through the period. Kris Letang made it 3-0 in the second and that was all for Elliott. Riley Sheahan made it 5-0 late in the third. Neuvirth stopped 11 of 13 shots in relief. ”We won in their building on the second game so that’s the attitude we’re going to take,” Neuvirth said. Murray was solid again, and stoned Travis Konency on a breakaway out of the penalty box in the second that had the second-year center slam his stick on the ice in anger. ”They had their chances Jack Johnson Jersey , at times,” Murray said. ”But we got the job done.” NOTES: Couturier was named a Selke Trophy finalist as the league’s best defensive forward. … 2018 Olympic hockey gold medalists Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson and Monique Lamoureux-Morando hosted a clinic and helped donate equipment on behalf of a volunteer effort at the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation. Snider was the Flyers founder and chairman until his death in 2016. … Crosby scored on all three goalies the Flyers have used in the series. … The Flyers are 2 for 17 on the power play in the series. A former NFL linebacker's career was cut short after authorities in New Jersey fabricated evidence linking him to a gun used in a shooting, the player alleged in a lawsuit filed this week. The Elizabeth police department and Union County prosecutor's office "willfully ignored and were deliberately indifferent to overwhelming evidence" that Khaseem Greene hadn't provided the weapon used in a shooting outside a nightclub in Elizabeth in December 2016, Greene says in the suit. The Kansas City Chiefs released Greene in May of last year, the day charges against him were reported. Two months later, a gun charge against Greene was dropped after an audio recording surfaced of the accused shooter telling detectives he lied about Greene's involvement in the shooting. The lawsuit filed Tuesday accuses the police and prosecutor's office of "simultaneously manufacturing and fabricating false evidence in order to charge Plaintiff with a crime he did not commit." A spokesman for the county prosecutor's office declined comment Thursday. A message left at the Elizabeth police department wasn't immediately returned. The 29-year-old Greene is an Elizabeth native who was a Big East defensive player of the year while at Rutgers. He appeared in a total of 25 games for the Chicago Bears in the 2013 and 2014 seasons, starting six games at linebacker. The lawsuit charges numerous counts including civil rights violations Gordie Howe Jersey , false arrest and imprisonment, malicious prosecution, negligence and defamation. It seeks unspecified punitive and compensatory damages, including for past and future economic loss. It also seeks the appointment of an independent monitor to oversee the Elizabeth police department. According to the lawsuit, the man charged with the shooting, a career criminal with more than 20 prior arrests and six felony convictions, admitted he lied about getting the gun from Greene during an interview with police after his arrest in late December 2016. Nevertheless Max Pacioretty Jersey , authorities went ahead and charged Greene, citing surveillance video that allegedly showed Greene handing the gun to the man. No such video existed, the lawsuit alleges. Greene last August said the legal trouble has been "probably the toughest time of my life" and has been "very hard emotionally and mentally." "People started looking at me differently and accusing me of being this thug, this monster, and all of it was false," he said by phone. The suit names the Elizabeth Police Department and the Union County Prosecutor's Office as well as individuals in both offices. Jacksonville Jaguars Elite Jerseys

LeBron James is inspiring more than just kids with his school in Akron. Cleveland Browns cornerback T.J. Carrie said Wednesday that the NBA star has motivated him and other athletes to be more active in their communities. "Are we doing enough?" Carrie asked. The school is funded by a partnership between Akron City Schools and the LeBron James Family foundation. Along with a curriculum that caters to a student's needs Colton Sissons Jersey , the school has a food pantry and provides transportation and other educational resources to some of the city's most needy residents. It currently serves only third- and fourth-grade students, but the school plans expand to grades 1-8 by 2020. Carrie, who signed with the Browns as a free agent in March after four seasons with Oakland, said James' efforts lead him to want to do more. Two years ago, the 28-year-old launched his own youth foundation. "I'm talking to my team now Michael Hutchinson Jersey ," he said. "OK, LeBron's doing this, we're not on his level, but the level that we're on, what can we do to achieve and make a huge difference within the community out here?" Carrie said some of his teammates have discussed ways in which they can help others. Carrie also has Ohio connections. Although James is leaving after his second stint with the Cavaliers Authentic Mats Zuccarello Jersey , Carrie believes his work in Ohio remains. "LeBron has done an amazing job here in the state of Ohio, period," Carrie said. "It sets precedents for what we should do as athletes on how we are a role model to a lot of kids that we may not know, that we may not see but that know us." Thursday night’s game between the Ravens and Bears was the first to be played since the NFL adopted new rules governing the use of helmets this offseason and the Ravens found themselves on the wrong side of three penalty flags for violating those rules. Safety Bennett Jackson was penalized in the fourth quarter for a tackle Kyle Turris Jersey , but said after the game that he doesn’t think he dropped or led with his helmet when making the play. Jackson also said that he believes the flags on Thursday night may have been designed to raise awareness more than anything else. “I feel like they’re trying to harp on it a lot more in preseason, so they’re going to throw flags even on times when it’s not necessarily head to head, just to make people aware of it,” Jackson said, via ESPN.com. “I spoke to the ref. He even said, ‘Hey Justin Abdelkader Jersey , it’s preseason, we got to throw the flag.'” Jackson said he doesn’t think the calls will be made as much in the regular season, but admitted he has no idea if that’s true or not. He’s not alone in that lack of certainty and enforcement of the rules will be a leading storyline as the 2018 season gets underway. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — As Colin Kaepernick watched from the apparel giant’s headquarters in Oregon, Nike aired its highly anticipated ad featuring the quarterback known for his social protests during the NFL season opener Thursday night. The spot highlighting the former 49ers quarterback locked in a grievance with the league aired during the first ad break in the third quarter of the Eagles-Falcons game, which started with no overt demonstrations by players during the national anthem. A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that Kaepernick was watching the ad’s first television airing on NBC at an event held at Nike’s world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because details of the visit were not announced publicly. Still Joel Edmundson Jersey , some attendees posted accounts of the visit on social media, including video of Kaepernick speaking to a crowd Thursday several hours before the ad aired. “You have to think beyond what you see around you,” said Kaepernick, who hasn’t spoken to the media publicly since opting out of his contract with San Francisco and becoming a free agent in 2017. “You have to see the future that you believe in and that you want not just for yourself but all the people you see globally,” he said. Kaepernick’s deal with Nike for the 30th anniversary of the “Just Do It” campaign was the most polarizing issue in sports this week, prompting heated debate on several topics including athletes protesting social injustice and Nike wading into political waters. Some fans responded to Kaepernick’s sponsorship deal by cutting or burning gear with Nike’s signature swoosh logo. Others argued the backlash and calls for a Nike boycott showed how debate has morphed beyond how to react to athletes trying to highlight issues like racial inequality and police shootings of unarmed minorities. “I don’t like what Nike did. I don’t think it’s appropriate what they did Youth Chris Wagner Jersey ,” President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News before a rally in Montana. “I honor the flag. I honor our national anthem and most of the people in this country feel the same way.” There were no clear-cut protests as “The Star-Spangled Banner” played before the game with both teams on the field and the song broadcasted nationally. Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins and defensive end Michael Bennett were on the sideline and neither really demonstrated during the song. Jenkins and Bennett regularly have either knelt or stayed off the field during the anthem to protest social injustice and racial inequality. They have been among the most vocal protesters since Kaepernick began similar demonstrations in 2016. Jenkins stood with teammates while Bennett wandered behind them near the Eagles bench and adjusted his equipment. Jenkins said he thinks players should shift the focus of the debate away from the anthem itself and back to the issues they are trying to highlight. “I think there’s a huge need for us to turn the attention to not only the issues, but what players are actually doing in their communities to promote change,” he said. “We’re trying to move past the rhetoric of what’s right or what’s wrong in terms of the anthem and really focus on the systematic issues that are plaguing our communities.” No Falcons players were absent from the sideline and none has protested in the recent past. The anthem has been a particularly thorny issue for the NFL, especially Trump urging owners to bench or fire players who demonstrate. Players say their message has been misconstrued into something against the American flag or the military. Kaepernick’s grievance against the league and team owners accuses owners of colluding to keep him off any roster. An arbitrator gave Kaepernick an incremental victory by allowing the challenge to go to trial. Jenkins said Nike’s commercial is changing the portrayal of Kaepernick in the public eye. “Quite frankly, long after all of this is done (Kaepernick) will be looked at as somebody that changed this sport and changed the dynamics of all athletes in general in our country,” Jenkins said. The league and players union still haven’t resolved whether players will be punished this season if they choose to kneel or demonstrate during the anthem. Owners approved a policy requiring players to stand if they are on the sideline during the song Womens Esa Lindell Jersey , allowing them to stay off the field if they wish. But the league and union put that on hold after the Miami Dolphins faced backlash for classifying the protests as conduct potentially detrimental to the team — putting players at risk of fines or suspensions.
